Safety Professional
Summary: Responsible for administering and instructing comprehensive safety training program; perform safety audits assuring all safety plans are followed; work with customer to ensure all safety standards and requirements are met; make sure the site is free of workplace hazards to mitigate accidents and injuries. When accidents occur, ensure the proper treatment of the injured/affected employee and that the injury or accident is properly documented. Accountable for the protection of people, property, and the environment; assist in the administration of the project safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Education: Advanced degree in Safety or other relevant subject is preferred; equivalent experience considered at the discretion of management. CHST/OHST (or other recognized accreditation in safety field) preferred. Minimum OSHA 30 training required.
Experience: Experience in construction, safety, and/or management required; equivalent experience considered at the discretion of management.
Special Requirements: Must be able to pass background check which could include DMV, DOT, DISA, TWIC or other required checks – depending on location.

Safety Professional

When accidents occur, ensure the proper treatment of the injured/affected employee and that the injury or accident is properly documented. Accountable for the protection of people, property, and the environment; assist in the administration of the project safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct regular walk-through inspection of construction/work areas.
- Identify, document, and recommend resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrective action has been taken.
- Assist operations investigation of personal injury and property damage accidents.
- Compile data, photographs, etc.; prepare pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, and local regulations associated with accidents.
- Verify that various entry permits (i.e., to confined spaces) are obtained as required.
- Assist in conducting employee/craft walk-through tours; may accompany federal, state, and insurance inspector on walk-through tours.
- Assist in emergency rescues as required (when trained to do so); assist in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems.
- Implement developed EHS programs related to the facility environment.
- Serve as liaison between the resident contract agency representative and other various agencies engaged in promoting EHS activities; administer additional EHS programs on a more specialized project or multiple projects as appropriate.
Technical Skills:
- Thorough understanding of all federal, state, and local regulations. Must have extensive knowledge of Corporate Safety Policy.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective and preventive measures
- Strong advanced mathematical ability, written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards
- Proficient knowledge in MS Office suite and database applications
Behavioral Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills such as tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrate a motivation to provide fast, accurate and complete customer service at all times to all employees and management
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive material

Physical Requirements:
- May work in an office environment with extensive time spent in all areas of project or site
- May be exposed to hazardous materials; may require the use of protective gear/clothing
- Ability to physically climb stairs, balance on scaffolding, access small, confined spaces, and work in excessive heat and/or cold environments due to site visits
- Frequent walking throughout a site
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to type on a keyboard
- Ability to converse over a telephone
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
