Human Performance Professional - Spring Outage

This position reports to the Williams Plant Services (WPS) Site Manager at the Columbia Generating Station nuclear site with dotted line to the Williams Organizational Effectiveness and Human Performance Director. They will interface with all levels of WPS and Energy Northwest site management. This position is responsible to manage Human Performance and Corrective Action Programs and conduct HU related investigations.

General Functions:
  • Develop reports for corporate evaluation and analysis with recommends improvement changes
  • Observe processes to identify high risk areas to develop snd implements mitigating strategies
  • Determine, manage, track and make decisions on strategies to achieve KPI (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Identify station trends and facilitate learnings for all personnel.
  • Identify and resolve cultural issues and productivity challenges
  • Conduct meetings with supervision to mitigate identified risks
  • Promoting excellence in Performance Improvement throughout the station

Human Performance Functions:
  • Conduct training on Human Performance and new to nuclear to support plant onboarding
  • Conduct training for supervision to ensure alignment of project or client standards
  • Conduct performance presentations during shift meetings
  • Mentor staff and craft in standards, observations and expectations
  • Ensure site personnel demonstrate proficiency in the project or client Error Prevention Tools
  • Track and trend observation data
  • Develop periodic reports to on key performance indicators

Corrective Action Program Functions:
  • Correlate data collected from the CAP program for trending
  • Assist project management in the condition reporting systems
  • Lead and assist site personnel with event investigations
  • Perform internal event investigations
  • Lead site HU and CAP meetings

  • Uses resources effectively to generate solutions and determine future course of actions


Technical Skills:
  • Experience with developing/documenting and working within nuclear procedures and process
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge with applicable performance practices, standards and INPO guidance
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and database applications such as Maximo
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to multi-task and handle varying tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop executive summary abstracts in complex industry developments
  • Ability to effectively participate and/or lead meetings and large groups of personnel
  • Ability to learn high level principles and concepts of Human Performance and Human Risk Management
  • Ability to obtain a Human Performance Fundamentals Certificate of Completion
  • Abiity to develop key performance indicators and supporting data collection methods

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 70%
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and to type on a keyboard
  • Ability to work in office and perform in corporate environment and to converse over a telephone
  • Ability to physically climb stairs, balance on scaffolding, access small, confined spaces and work in excessive heat and/or cold environments, and walk over 2 miles due to site visits
  • Ability to work backshifts
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk and talk or hear
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle, feel and/or reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds or 25% of their body weight
  • Ability to work in a drug free environment
  • Ability to enter radiological controlled areas

  • Bachelors Degree and at least 2 years of direct experience with the major job accountabilities listed above, including at least 1 years working with nuclear power plants or a High school diploma and at least 5 years of experience with the general functions listed above, including at least 3 years working with nuclear power plants.  Other equivalent experience can be considered at the discretion of management.
  • Having attended a past INPO new leads seminar on Human Performance is a significant plus

  • Previously demonstrated experience in a field interfacing and communicating with people
  • Experienced with public speaking, including classroom instruction and comfortable speaking in front of large groups (over 200 people)
  • Must be able to be badged at U.S. commercial operating nuclear power plants
